Hamish Frater

Art Director at Hutch

Hamish Frater is an Art Director at Hutch with over twenty years of experience in the gaming industry. He began his career as an environment artist at the Sony London Studio and now works at Hutch, while also freelancing for the TV and film industry. Hamish has contributed to shipped titles such as Forza, All Will Fall, and Love, Death & Robots.

Hamish's personal work is inspired by his fascination with old machinery and themes of human survival in post-apocalyptic worlds. He emphasizes color, texture, and compelling forms to build character and breathe life into the environments he creates.

  • Hamish is an incredibly talented art director with true creative flair. He always excels and delivers quality far beyond what you would expect; not only that, but he is also able to apply this quality across all artistic fields when directing and mentoring others. He is a joy to work with; he's communicative, engaged, and just a lot of fun to be around.

  • I’ve had the privilege of working with Hamish for over 17 years now. He was a great artist when we first met, and he’s only improved since then. He’s the kind of artist that consistently produces incredible art while making it all seem so effortless. His exceptional skills and expertise, combined with his humble and open-minded attitude, make him a great art director.
