Meliza Fermin

Senior/Lead Compositor & Lead Digital Matte Painter

Meliza Fermin is an Emmy Award-winning visual effects artist with over two decades of experience in film and television. She currently works as a Senior Matte Painter at Onyx Visual Effects.


Throughout her career, Meliza has held key roles as a Lead Digital Matte Painter and Senior Compositor at studios including Koala FX, Stargate Studios, FuseFX, Encore VFX, Method Studios, Powerhouse VFX, and Mavericks VFX. Her credits include Stranger Things, Ironside, The Vampire Diaries, Grey’s Anatomy, and The Walking Dead.


In addition to her artistic work, Meliza has helped develop pipeline tools that streamline workflows, enabling smooth transitions from digital matte painting to projected setups for compositors. Outside of VFX, she enjoys returning to her roots in fine art, studying nature, and creating oil paintings.
