James Clyne is a film industry artist with 29 years of experience, combining studio and freelance work. He studied fine art at UC Santa Barbara, focusing on oil painting and photography, before continuing at Art Center College of Design in automotive, industrial, and film production design, inspired by visionaries like Raymond Loewy, Pininfarina, and Syd Mead.
James has contributed to over thirty films, collaborating with Steven Spielberg (A.I., Minority Report), James Cameron (Avatar, Battle Angel), J. J. Abrams (Star Trek), and others. He was Production Designer on the animated feature Tusker and later joined the ILM Art Department, working on Star Wars titles including The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, and served as Lucasfilm Design Supervisor on Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Today, James continues as an independent contractor, focusing on freelance design for film, bringing decades of expertise in visualization, lighting, and cinematic storytelling.
